Based on a concept of Jim Chapin, Claus and Dom Famularo have released an educational poster on so called “Collapsed Rudiments“. This subject was originally intended to be released as ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR THE MODERN DRUMMER VOL. III, Jim’s first sketches go back to the 60’s of the last century. Basically it is all about changing the rhythmic positions of a rudiment in order to create either a totally new pattern or an already existing rudiment – this way the strategy of “Collapsed Rudiments” reveils unseen potential regarding the relationship between different rudiments as well as offering new ways to generate new ideas and drumming vocabulary.
